Swim

We had a short week. Joshua worked Wednesday - Friday, which was so nice! Mom and I went to Costco, and got the girls some swimsuits. Here are pictures of Farrah in her new swimsuit cover. They both love their new swimsuits. Farrah loves trying them on (the child loves clothes), and it just made me want summer that much more!

She loves to make funny faces.

Adra is such a beautiful child! Here she is showing me her Snow White dress.

The sun decided to come out on Friday.....it was so bright, we were all almost blinded. It was so, so, so nice outside, it got up in the 40's and it felt a lot warmer then that because of the sun, we just HAD to go outside.
Dax was not thrilled with my idea.

This made him a little happier. I got out our picnic blanket, and it warm enough to take his top half out of his snow suit. Being able to have his fingers makes him a lot happier!

The girls and I made a snowman.....it was so fun! The girls were excited to munch on the carrots!

We made a little dog (even though it looked more like a cat). When Farrah tried to put eyes on it, the head fell off, and she got frustrated, and knocked down what was left.

Adra went down for a nap, and Farrah thought of a fun little activity. I got out some little sticks, paper and glue. We started just making patterns, and then Farrah found a magazine and wanted to find and then make the letters with the sticks (I got some "beads" too). She is doing such a good job with her letters. She loves to learn about the letters, and gets so excited when she recognizes them. She is great at "L", "H", "S", and "E".
Here she is finding a letter.

Now she is "writing" the letter. We did three pages of this, and she had so much fun. Some of the best activities we do come out of her smart brain.

We went over Grandma's house later on Friday and went for a walk on the driveway. It felt like spring outside, we just had to be outside. Farrah "walked" Bailey on a lead. Dax was all snuggled up in the stroller, and Adra carried her baby doll, and pointed out all the dog poop, and made sure that no one stepped in it.

Saturday night Farrah slept in the top bunk! She actually fell asleep on the couch and Joshua put her on the top bunk. She was so excited when she woke up. The girls just love their bunk beds. Saturday was a day of fun, and not a day of productivity. We decided to use one of our Family YMCA passes. We took the girls swimming. They had so much fun, we all did. Dax really loved swimming, I was surprised. At the Y, they have a zero clearance pool (you just walk in, and it gradually gets to 3.5 feet deep).

I brought my big roll of paper over my parents after church, and Grandma traced the girls. Farrah saw this on a PBS show, and has been wanting to do it ever since. We figured it would be easiest to do it on my parents wood floor.

Adra is so wiggly, she was a little harder to trace.

Farrah had fun coloring herself. Grandma helped a lot. I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but she had a shirt, skirt, jewelry, nail polish and ballet shoes. Farrah LOVED it!

Here is a picture of Adra this morning, right before Josh left for his run. She put on his "hat", and kept telling us that she was going running. I also love this picture, because you probably notice that she frequently has this snow white dress on. This is her "security blanket", she wears it everyday, and wants to sleep in it too. She panics if she can't find it. Whenever we call her "Snow White", she quickly corrects us, "I am not Snow White, I am Adra" She is also very good at putting the dress on inside out and backwards, on a rare occasion she will put it on the right way. She is so fun.

FUN QUOTES

I had Adra and Farrah both pig tails the other day, and when Grandma came over, Adra ran over to her and said, "You like my bunny rabbits?"

It is bad that it took me a minute to say the following words the correct way....the girls have converted me.
Mermaid - Merdaid
Yogurt - Yogrit

I was showing Adra something and said, "I am doing this because I am a big girl". Adra replies, "Mommy you are not a big girl, you are a mommy. Farrah is a big girl"

BUNK BEDS!

We have still been sick....I know......it really is ridiculous! Josh was in Mexico all last week. Of course midday last Monday (after thinking that the sicknesses had all passes) I got really sick. Luckily my mom came over, because I was just miserable. Monday also brought a snow storm, so my Mom offered for us to stay at her house, because Josh and Dad were both out of town, so thats what we did. We packed up our stuff and mom drove us over to her house, and we got snowed in for two nights. While we were there we made Valentine's.....it was fun and messy. I brought my heart cookie cutters and some red sand I got on clearance for like 20 cents each at Ikea. We dipped the cookie cutters in glue and then sprinkled the red sand on it. Farrah especially loved doing this. Adra loved just squirting the glue all over the paper, and then pouring the sand on it. Mom took Farrah to play out in the snow, but it was too deep to really have any fun, plus it was extrememly cold. Luckily my bug didn't last as long as our previous one, I was all better by Wednesday.
(The picture below doesn't really show what I just described. I didn't get any pictures of the "good" valentines. Farrah was just squirting a bunch of glue int his picture and pouring sand on it, like Adra was doing)

Dax likes to nap. He is crawling all over the place, and climbing up on stuff. He is such a cutie.

Wednesday we went home, and I honestly can't remember what we did for the rest of the week. We just stayed inside and hibernated. The girls had little moments when they felt sick again, so we did a lot of relaxing. Josh came home on Friday, and we were so happy to see him. Our original plan was to head to Indiana when Josh got home, so we could spend the long weekend there, but with me being sick I wasn't packed, and our van was snowed into the garage. We talked about it Friday night, and around 8pm decided we would leave early in the morning and head to Indiana. We stayed up late packing, and Josh shoveled the driveway. We were on the road at 7am the next morning. Of course I forgot my camera, so I have no pictures of our trip. We had a fun time at Nona and Papi's house. Papi and Josh made the girls a snow fort, which they loved. And Josh took me and the kids on a couple rides in the Kabota, which was fun. Sunday night they got like 6 inches of snow. Clyde had to plow the drive for us. We left around 3pm (I think) and it was the worst ride home ever! We pretty much followed the path that the snow storm went. By the time we got past Louisville all the roads were completely covered in snow. You couldn't see the lanes, and cars were sliding off the road. It was horrible! Joshua luckily is a fantastic driver, and he got us home safely. The only time we got stuck was on our driveway, but our nice neighbor saw us and came to our rescue. The driveway had about a foot of snow on it, but he was able to finally get it in the garage.

Here is a picture of our icicles.

Luckily Joshua got a snow day yesterday.....we were so delighted!
We ordered a bunk bed (which came with two free mattresses!) for the girls and while Joshua was in Mexico it was delivered. Tuesday morning we put the bunk bed together (it also has a trundle bed!). The girls LOVE it so much, and it makes their room so much bigger. Right now they are sharing the bottom bunk. Adra took a 3.5 hour nap in it yesterday, and the girls slept amazing in it last night.....no one got up in the middle of the night! We are very happy. They also love to play in and on the bunk bed. I am so glad we got it!

The bed ready for them to sleep in it.

Their little reading corner.

Their dresser (and fishies!)

Their dress up chest and mirror.

Sorry I haven't taken hardly any pictures lately......now that we are all feeling much better (except for Dax, he has a terrible cold), I will try and take more pictures.

Cute thing Adra says:
She calls Cinderella, "Princess come true" - I just love it!
She has also been singing this Yo Gabba Gabba song lately, "Keep trying, keep trying. Don't give up, don't give up." it is precious!

I love blogging!

I love having a blog, and I love blogging about our life. I love that I have my own digital scrapbook of what we have done over the last few years. I sometimes like to look back to what we were doing a year or two ago.
Two years ago this time we were in Washington visiting my Grandparents. Adra was just 3 months old and cute as a button, and Farrah was of course cute as a button too, but going through her terrible twos (she really wasn't that terrible). This was the first year Joshua and I were apart for Valentine's day. Here is a link if you want to see what we were up to two years ago.....here you go!
(sadly the program I used to upload the videos two years ago does not exist anymore....so you can't see the videos anymore)

We have been crazy sick!!

We have been really really really sick, so I haven't had time to update the blog, I have been cleaning up throw up and diarrhea for over a week now. We are finally over the stomach bug finally, but somehow have caught a cold (even though we have be quarantined in this house for like 2 weeks). Before we got sick we started doing a week about rain (at that time it was raining a lot here). Below Adra is making a cloud with lightning and rain.

I made some yummy chocolate covered pretzels. We bought a ton of chocolate bricks for the fondue party new years eve, but they never got used, so I am trying to find ways to use them up. This was a good little snack.

Farrah was at the library with Grandma when Adra and I made the cloud picture, so when she came home she wanted to make one too. Farrah even cut out the cloud. She is getting so good at doing crafts all by herself, mommy doesn't have to help her at all anymore.

Dax likes to climb into things.

We found this craft here, it is an octopus fishing game. Farrah loved creating all the faces.

I found this umbrella craft here. First we colored with crayons and then we did water paints over it.

We then talked a lot about rainbows, and read all of our Noah's Ark books (I think we have around 10). I found this craft here, thee girls loved it, because they love getting their hand traced.

Dax learned to sit up on his own two weeks ago, and last week started pulling himself in the standing position all by himself. He falls a lot, but is persistent.

January 28th was when the sickness hit us. Joshua and I were up all night with the girls, and they were up throwing up. We changed a ton of sheets and pjs. That continued for the next week and a half. We were stuck in the house. We do a couple little activities, because even thought the girls were sick, they also got bored, so they needed some entertaining. I think I got sick on Monday and was sick the whole week. I moved their playroom TV into their room, to try and get them to rest and sleep as much as possible. The best way to get them to lay still is to put a movie on for them.

I found this craft here. We painted a piece of paper with vinegar, and then placed a lot of tissue paper hearts (which I cut the night before). We let the paper dry and then took the tissue paper off the paper, which was supposed to have the tissue bleed on the paper.....didn't work, but they had fun with it.

Josh did a craft with the girls, and they made this craft. They had fun doing something crafty with their daddy.

We also made these heart music makers found here. They first painted paper plates, and then waited for them to dry.

Back to the rainbow activities, we made a rainbow cookie found here. Farrah loved helping me make this, she even cracked the eggs.

We mixed all the colors.

And made a huge rainbow cookie.

Here is the finished heart music maker. Adra made one too. We found some red, pink and white things to put in them (I dyed popcorn kernels red).

We then made a rainbow with the dots found here. Adra just put the dots all over the place, but Farrah did made a real rainbow with it.

We played with play dough. We first played with white and red play dough, and mixed them together to make pink. I then took out my heart cookie cutters, and we made play dough cookies.

Here are the hearts that Farrah made.

Dax and Farrah snuggling together.

Poor little sick baby boy.

Yummy biter biscuit! That was his first one, and he loved it.

Even though we were still recovering from all our illnesses, we went over my parents for the super bowl party last night. I made Stromboli (pictured below), spinach and artichoke dip, meatballs, boneless wings and pecan pie. We all were in a food coma all afternoon and night!

We took a short break from eating and went out to play in the snow. Here Dax is getting all bundled up to go outside. We had fun sledding. As soon as we went outside Dax fell asleep in our arms. He is a sweet toot. Farrah had so much fun sledding. Adra was grumpy and sleepy and didn't want to sled at all, she just walked around and tried to convince us to go back inside.

It seems like we are all having colds now.....hopefully we will be healthy again soon.

Even though they are sick they are still funny.
"Mom I am getting big, and so I can drink Diet Coke soon!" - Farrah

"I am going downstairs to get marshmallows" she pauses to think, "I am not going to eat them, I am going to decorate for you mom." - Adra (she is a smart little cookie!)

While justifying getting a cookie "but mom it's my birthday" - Adra

Here are some lyrics to some songs Farrah made up.....I think we have a mini Molly!
"I give you my heart on the streets of town".....a little later "When it dies you will throw it away and get a new one"

Farrah's prayer this morning,
"Thank you for the food, the blessings, the movies we get to watch, Adra, and the table so I can eat my eggs"
